Intro
Project Overview
Alerte is a personal safety application designed to connect users with trusted contacts and emergency responders in real time using a simple swipe. With features like instant SOS alerts, live location sharing, and intelligent risk detection, the platform addresses the urgent need for faster emergency response in high-risk environments. My job was to make the complex features feel instinctive and relatable, even under panic.

The Challenge
Emergency situations are unpredictable, and users often panic under pressure and forget how to use the app, or even which emergency numbers to dial. Alerte needed videos that not only explained complex features but also built emotional trust, ensuring users could understand and remember how to act when it mattered most.
The context: Busy city emergency scenarios (road accidents, armed robbery, fire outbreaks, night breakdowns).
The constraint: no live footage, only AI and screen recordings. And the bar was high – these videos would launch the app.

Design and Execution – Key Insight
Users rarely remember emergency instructions under pressure. The communication approach moved beyond instruction toward relatable scenarios. Familiar Lagos scenarios and tension-driven storytelling were used to improve clarity, urgency, and behavioral recall, thereby helping the app feel more immediate, believable, and easier to use under pressure.

Testimonial(s)
He cooked. Joseph asked questions we didn't even think to share, then produced work that made our organization look and feel like something people wanted to be part of. Mental health content doesn't respond well to generic visuals, he understood that without being told. The engagement numbers after launch spoke for themselves.
